It’s time to tell the tale of Sicily.
But as I’ve been preparing the photos of our trip over the course of the past week, I’ve realized it’s so hard to put it all into words.
Sicily is, simply, the MOST beautiful place on earth. Full of the MOST beautiful people, who eat the MOST delicious food. And bask in the MOST glorious weather. They’ve been doing everything longer and better than you have – proudly tracing their origins to the Phoenicians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Ottomans. Standing apart from the rest of the world while they do it, on a gleaming hunk of rock teaming with olives, almonds, and citrus in the sparkling Mediterranean.
And lucky me – I’m one of them (at least 50% one of them). And my, how I’ve fallen in love with my ancestral home after this trip, as did the people traveling with me (some of them newcomers to the island, some old friends).
They all felt Sicily’s superlative qualities. We shared in several “best meals ever,” “best cappuccinos ever,” “most beautiful beaches ever,” and I’ve decided that’s all I can really do, to adequately convey the glories of our trip – show you all these “bests.”
In them, you’ll see the Sicily we all now know and love.

Great photos and what a wonderful trip full of perfect memories! Keep traveling — you will never regret seeing the world….
What fun!!! I can see why you love Sicily. Precious time for all of you! Will you plan my next trip???
If we can talk Lisa into doing it again, would you go?
Next time there may be an upfront travel agent fee for services to-be-rendered, I’m just sayin’… ;-P
You are right. Only one word can describe this experience. The “best”! Maybe two. “Ever”! It was a precious time because we found family. You couldn’t get that from a “travel agent”.
OMG Bilba!!!! (the rest of your pics are nice too)
It was wonderful beyond words. Thank-you!
[…] I was on my way to Sicily later that week, the dentist and I agreed this was a non-emergency and could wait until I got back. […]
[…] thank god for my girls: Kim, Carla, and Marlene. We’re going to Yosemite on Friday and I can’t wait to get the hell out of Dodge. […]
