As I sit here packing up for an extra-long Labor Day weekend with friends up at our mountain house, I’m reminded that it’s been one year since our official housewarming at Mustang Ranch…
One year since we “officially” called this place our second home.
We really underestimated what a good decision buying 2381 would be. We thought our lives were stressful a year ago; we had no idea what the universe had in store for us. Trent and I have always embodied the “work hard, play hard” mantra. Well, now we work really, really, really hard. And 2381 has allowed us to balance the play side of that. And not haul off and shoot anyone.
(Just kidding. Trent would never shoot anyone.)
The mountain house has saved us in so many ways. It’s been our escape; our place to leave technology behind (except for Roku TV – duh!). Our place to dream about what our future together might be like when we leave our tech careers behind (for good). Our place to be alone; our place to be with friends – new friends, old friends, and really, really old friends.
In short, it’s the best place either of us have ever called “our own.” There’s no doubt about that, in either of our minds.
Here are some of our favorite memories of just this first year, already:
To all the friends and family who shared in this spectacular first year with us, THANK YOU. After this weekend, we’re officially into Year 2 (of many, no doubt!).
