Mungacation 2016

I just dropped my mom off at the airport, and I am sad.

It was the longest trip she’s ever made to see us, and coincidentally at probably the worst time of year for us since Trent and I are both packing up to head to San Diego – I leave tomorrow for Adobe MAX and Trent joins me there in two days (he’s going to the conference this year, so I at least get hubby company!).

But I wanted to see my mom; after the year she’s had, I wanted to get her out of Michigan and get her to relax. I wanted to push myself extra hard and get ready for my MAX responsibilities a week early, so I could have this time to relax with her before diving into the most stressful week of my year.

I just wanted my mom.

I didn’t quite succeed at the stress-free part. I was never able to completely “turn off” during her visit; I was still feeling the crunch, and I’m a little disappointed about that.

But I do think Munga got to relax. I got to take her stress away for a week, I hope. And we got to be together. We got to take a lot of naps together.

And we did actually manage to do quite a lot of fun stuff, too…

Guest Room: DONE!

It’s kinda pathetic that almost one year to the day that I documented we were FINALLY starting to decorate our remodeled guest room

…I have FINALLY finished decorating the remodeled guest room.

Okay. So, since is the second project I’ve finished this month that feels as though it kinda dragged on a loooooong time, I feel like I just have to be clear… Continue reading

Fall 2016

Fall is HERE.

And…

IT’S RAINING! Already!!!

It came down hard for three days in Arnold this weekend. Our new drainage system worked like a charm – got that baby in just in time!

It came down hard for three days straight in Arnold this weekend. Our new drainage system worked like a charm – got that baby in just in time!

I’m so excited about the start of the new season, and the start the new season is off to… Did that make sense?

I don’t care! It already rained. A LOT (by California standards). I’m not sure this gives me hope, because I’m waaayyy beyond that now, but it just feels good to have a little flash of normal.

Like – just gimme a little rain, Mama Earth, and I can do this. I can do everything else required of me…

Here it comes, and here I go…

Onward into autumn.

All the Important Stuff

Trent and I have had a pretty firm “no socializing on weeknights” rule in place for the last couple months, what with me working like a maniac and him holding down the fort(s) and generally everything else in our lives. Though we’ve managed to preserve our weekends for our beloved low-stress (and necessary) mountain escapes, my copious amounts of responsibility just aren’t making it into an eight (or even ten) hour workday lately, meaning something’s gotta give. So…

NO FUN ON A SCHOOL NIGHT.

Except for last night. Last night, we made an exception.  Continue reading

Bathroom: DONE

Continuing the trend of “things I made progress on and therefore not everything in this world is a shitshow”, I give you…

The upstairs bathroom:

Once known as the "bathroom from hell", and "bitch bathroom", after four plus years it is now perfect.

I even got old Pepsi crates from Fresno for shelves. Totally CRUSHING the Museum of Us mission.

It’s REALLY DONE now.

Yes, construction was finished like over six months ago, and then I even fixed the construction that was broken. BUT it took me a while to get everything I wanted for it. Everything has to be just. so. in Lisaland. In my museum.

And now it is.

(Just so in time for our first non-dog bather, too, when Munga comes to visit in three weeks!)
