Christmas Miracle

Hallelujah, we cannot believe how lucky we are.

After just a couple weeks, the forestry crews are here on our road in Arnold, hauling all our downed trees away.

Just a few days ago, we were told “months” before they got to us – maybe spring, if we were lucky. And instead, just like that – it will all be gone.

This guy is across the road, picking up wood on our neighbor's land as I type.

It cost us not a single penny – for any of it.

It’s a good reminder, as we head into our 2.5-week Christmas vacation and 2017, how unbelievably lucky we are in so many ways in life. Lucky to have this second home and so, so much more to be thankful for (not the least of which is the money and time and energy to care so passionately about and for it, and for these beautiful mountains).

Lucky to have each other. Lucky to have just pine needles and not bombs raining down on our heads. Lucky to have a new year to look forward to.

We have to work a lot harder at practicing gratitude in 2017.

Still Thankful – 2016

It could all be a lot worse right now.

I could not have this guy:

<3

YES, the end is nigh – I really do believe that – but I have Trent. There are so many people who don’t have Trent. I don’t know how they’re getting through this crap.

If I could clone him and loan him out, I would. I would share Trent with the WHOLD WORLD.

But alas, I cannot.

And so he is all mine.

And I am grateful. So grateful.

Fall 2016

Fall is HERE.

And…

IT’S RAINING! Already!!!

It came down hard for three days in Arnold this weekend. Our new drainage system worked like a charm – got that baby in just in time!

I’m so excited about the start of the new season, and the start the new season is off to… Did that make sense?

I don’t care! It already rained. A LOT (by California standards). I’m not sure this gives me hope, because I’m waaayyy beyond that now, but it just feels good to have a little flash of normal.

Like – just gimme a little rain, Mama Earth, and I can do this. I can do everything else required of me…

Here it comes, and here I go…

Onward into autumn.

Bathroom: DONE

Continuing the trend of “things I made progress on and therefore not everything in this world is a shitshow”, I give you…

The upstairs bathroom:

Once known as the "bathroom from hell", and "bitch bathroom", after four plus years it is now perfect.

I even got old Pepsi crates from Fresno for shelves. Totally CRUSHING the Museum of Us mission.

It’s REALLY DONE now.

Yes, construction was finished like over six months ago, and then I even fixed the construction that was broken. BUT it took me a while to get everything I wanted for it. Everything has to be just. so. in Lisaland. In my museum.

And now it is.

(Just so in time for our first non-dog bather, too, when Munga comes to visit in three weeks!)

1 x 2

One year ago: a fresher on her first day on the job (and the bus).

One year ago: a fresher on her first day on the job (and the bus).

It’s the one year anniversary.

OF EVERYTHING.

One year ago today – August 3, 2015 – I started my new job, as Community Engagement Manager for Adobe’s Digital Media business.

AND

Trent and I closed on our vacation home. Our dream a-frame mountain party house, on the Ebbetts Pass in the Sierra Nevada.

That was a big day. I had a lot going on. But believe it or not, one year later, I have even more going on now.

Like… evening art-making workshops on iPads with child cancer patients and Creative Collisions at The Tech Museum in San Jose and media rollouts for our new Adobe Studio and interview requests from national press and travel orders from my VP and travel orders from my family and my 20 year high school reunion (EEK!) and preparations for Adobe MAX and preparations for Labor Day at the cabin and judging weekend for the ADAA

In short, I feel like this:

Light Painting: back and better than ever! #ilovemyjob #adobelife @futureartsnow @thetechmuseum (#sotired!)

LIKE A LIVE ADOBE LIGHT PAINTING AT THE TECH MUSEUM CREATED BY A HIP HOP DANCER DURING A “CREATIVE COLLISION” ON A TUESDAY NIGHT! WAY PAST MY BEDTIME!

A little wild.

But I look amazing, right?
