Inched another step closer to the big 4-0 this week! YEEHAW!

OMG. 38.

But actually, it felt good. I know that sounds very unlike me, but – I’m not joking.  Continue reading

And the trophy goes to…

Julie Brown (for Third Place)!

Let’s be real, though – third place is an awesome honor in this contest.

I’m talking about the World Championships of Friends Who Visit Lisa. In this illustrious (ongoing) event, Julie just cemented her position by coming to visit from Boston yet again this past weekend. In the World Championships of Friends Who Visit Julie, I don’t think I’m in third place – which is why she’s even more awesome. But hey – I’m up and coming. So WATCH OUT!

Double Hit

Today is Trenton Temple’s birthday. He’s 34 years old (the youngin’).

I pointed out to him that it’s a special day to be born – exactly nine months after Valentine’s Day. Must explain why he’s the most fiery, passionate, loving man I’ve ever met.

Go Go San Diego

Now that the sun is shining daily and the weed growth is waning, we’re about to enter lockdown here at 3675 and return to nonstop weekends of yardwork.

You see, soon it will be barbecue season, and this year, I fully intend to take advantage of that. I’m getting this place in the perfect summer state we couldn’t enjoy last year, because it was a construction war zone until July.

And, we’re getting ready to turn our backyard into a “food forest” (with the expertise and guidance of Katy and Felipé), and trust me — there will be work involved with that. Lots of work (and lots of fretting, and cursing).

So, before saying goodbye to a winter of luxuriously relaxing tasks like obsessively shopping for rugs online in favor of a return to manual labor, I felt the need to go to San Diego and spend a weekend eating too many tacos and partying like a college kid.

Fall Classics

While THE Fall Classic didn’t quite turn out as I’d hoped, our October still ended on quite a lovely note.

We wrapped our two-week house vacation by going to San Diego this past weekend, to visit John and Ashley.

Wait a minute — you don’t know who John and Ashley are? Then read my greatest blog post ever.

Anyway, despite having to watch Michigan AND the Tigers lose, we still had an epically good time. Which tends to happen with these two, and especially when you’re someplace like San Diego. And it’s perfectly sunny. And 90 degrees.

There was a little of this:
